Sometimes I just need help. I know that I like to give help, and it’s harder to receive. But yeah, sometimes I just need help.
I was setting up the website for my new book. I got stuck. I know this stuff. I do technology. I gave it a week. It was pretty frustrating. I couldn’t figure it out. I had to ask for help.
Tschuko helped me solve it in half an hour over chat. It turned out it was something I couldn’t have solved myself.
It felt so amazing to have help resolving something difficult. And it make me think about how good it feels to get help.
Especially right now. Because even some of the simple things are so hard.
They take planning.
They take figuring out.
They take longer.
We have to adjust.
I lose my patience. I get confused. Frustrated. Angry. I can’t. Whatever.
I need help and I have to ask. When I get help, the relief is 10 times what it would be “normally” – hah! I have to make sure that my appreciation and gratitude is there, too!
I feel like I should write a daily acknowledgements page (it’s on my mind since I just wrote a book)…
This day would not have been possible without the people at Zoom, the delivery person from Safeway; my mail carrier; my niece ,who calls to check in on me; Tschusko, who saved my website; Bimfee, who keeps me company while I work; Puppy, who reminds me to take a break; Nic, who is so excited to see me all day long; my clients, who remind me what my purpose is; my friends, who let me know that I am not alone and I am still interesting;
The page could go on. I won’t bore you with the rest (which is really my way of saying that I know I’ll forget someone and feel terrible about it)…
In this time where we all need to be accepting help as much as we need to give help, isn’t it great that it feels good to be helped?
