It’s winter.
It’s after the holidays, things are kinda coming back up to speed.
But it’s cold. I wanna be cozy.
I want to rest.
Okay I’m resting. What am I supposed to accomplish with that?
Seriously, that stupid thought entered my head.
“Just what am I accomplishing by resting?”
How sad is that. How twisted.
We get so caught up in doing – accomplishing, producing, making, earning – and we forget that’s not really the point.
We are human beings, not human doings.
Yes, of course we want to have a reason to get up, make a difference, have a purpose. Of course we do. We’re made in the image of the creator so we want to create.
We just don’t have to do it all the time. You know, like in the story about day 7!
We still have worth when we take a break. That’s not even in question.
And if the little should monster that is your brain still won’t stop yapping at you, just tell it that you’ll be so much more effective, productive and creative after you’ve had a little rest.
Winter. Resting. Restoring.
In the meantime, remember these things: You are loved. We are all loved. Let’s all be kind. And in all things – progress, not perfection!
Love and light,
Maggie
