You are inherently good

I received multiple reminders of this marvelous, wonderful and totally peacemaking fact this week. It felt so important that I wanted to pass it on to you.

You are inherently good.

You were born that way.

Nothing happened to change that fact.

Nothing you have done changes the fact that you are inherently good.

Yes, good people make mistakes. Good people do bad things (sometimes even on purpose).

What you do is important, of course. What you do is how you express what you believe – on all levels. It is HOW you show up, but it doesn’t define YOU.

Litmus test: Do you want to be good? Do you love someone as much as or more than yourself? Do you love animals? I don’t even need to tell you how to score this, do I?

I don’t care if you feel guilt because of what you think you’ve done that is so bad. (Well, I do care but that’s a different topic.) Do you think you would feel guilty if you weren’t inherently good? duh.

Relax into the idea that you are a good person, you are on a journey and you are doing the very best that you can at this point in time – and you always have! Have compassion for yourself. Look! Another trait of good!

Feel the peace, even for an hour, of knowing that you are so very basically good, and just see how your life fills with possibilities.

Then pass the message on, people need to hear it. One really easy way is to buy a “life is good” t-shirt (good company, great shirts) and see how people react when you wear it.

And remember: in all things – progress, not perfection!

p.s. I was very tempted to go down a theological trail on this topic. But I didn’t. Just know that my bumper sticker says “Eve was framed”.  My other one says “make tea, not war.”

p.p.s. Want to start a conversation about how you can believe more in your amazingness than your flaws? Send me an email and we can set up a time to talk:

Love, love, love this message! Truly. We don’t hear it enough and you say it so well. Thanks for the reminder. You’re like a really articulate guardian angel. Hah!
